Custom 3D mesh

Post by wock » Tue Aug 25, 2009 10:29 pm

Hi,
Well I think this question will concern "jerome" only,
I haven't seen this question on the forum so here I am,
I sometimes do 3d modeling with blender and when I saw there were files like "waves.mesh" etc. I thought maybe I should try and open them in blender to see if i could make the waves higher and other stuff like that, waiting for the new version :P
I managed to find scripts to open and edit the .mesh files with blender but when I want to import them in the game it crashes with the error:

Error #: 9
Function: MeshSerializer::importMesh
Description: Cannot find serializer implementation for current version [MeshSerializer_v1.40]
.
File: \ogredev\dagon\ogremain\src\ogremeshserializer.cpp
Line: 106
Stack unwinding <<beginning of stack>>

wich seems to be the error thrown if the .mesh file is corrupted

so I wondered if it was a security or if the .mesh files I created really were unusable in the game.
Anyway, first, do you mind if people customize the 3d models?

If the answer is no, can I ask you wich software you used for creating the models?

Very nice graphic and gameplay work by the way

As I'm very impatient I made this huge wave:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/lj95to

find the folder "models" and paste/replace the file (don't forget to backup the original one!!!!)

I made it very quickly, it's full of bugs (the guy gets under it or stuff like that  ) but it's still fun

Edit:
better one: http://www.sendspace.com/file/o5k0o3

put back the original "houle" if you changed it, and paste/replace "houle2"

and...
yeeha!

You can ride it but you need speed.
If you get to slow the guy falls under the wave.
If you do fall under it just sail like if you were on regular water and you'll get out of the wave.
Then try to catch another one

I'm currently trying to make barrels

To edit the .mesh files with blender you will need:
(blender exporter)

- http://people.freenet.de/3-D-Man-Zone/d ... mporter.py
(importer, got on: http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9135)

-http://sourceforge.net/project/download ... i&89692520
(tools to convert .mesh files in .xml files)

1) Paste the importer and exporter files in the script folder of blender
2) Install the command line tools wherever you want
3) Run blender:
delete all the default objects
import > ogre 3d mesh importer
always put scale at 100%
specify where is your ogre xml converter
choose your .mesh file
"ok"
wait a little
exit
the object should be in blender

to export:
export> ogre meshes> deactivate "export materials" > activate" xml converter " and "fix y axis" , go in preferences to specify where is the xml converter

you're done

I am using 1.2.4.

Congratulations guys for figuring this by yourselves. Of course you can modify the 3D objects for fun, no problem!

But you just saw how difficult it is to ride such a huge wave, not so funny as smaller ones :?
